Progressing learning process - Swati Mahila Sanga, Bangalore |
Exposure visit to CBOs |

CHARDEP HIV/AIDS prevention project staff along with other 2 NGOs SFDRT and VBEDS participated in the 5 days exposure visit to SWATI MAHILA SANGHA (a CBO initiated by the NGO – SWASTI) and SNEHADAAN (Camillian Community Care Centre).
This learning visit was coordinated by CHARDEP in association with APAC - VHS. Mr.Joseph Savy, Programme Officer (APAC – VHS) and Mr.Benjamin (Consultant) from APAC-VHS accompanied the team to help in the learning process. Participated in the exposure visit at Swati Mahila Sanga, learning site. Learning was also focused on the management and functioning of PRAGATI project for female sex workers at street based funded by PMG foundation, BHADUGHU project for the people living with HIV funded by World bank and Zone 7 – Bangalore (Pragati project) funded by KSAPS. |

| The visiting team had learned about SNEHADAAN in terms of its infrastructure development, medical intervention, Psycho-social support services including education for children, Nutrition, Home based care, Referrals/linkages, Shelter and Protection facilities besides, service delivery models like ART adherence, Positive prevention, etc. |

Sensitization on Cancer |

150 women from Kadiyappattinam were sensitized to know about the dreadful disease Cancer and possible measures to prevent the same.
Motivated women resolved to reduce the number of cigarettes smoked by their husbands from 10 to 4 per day and reduce the consumption of any other tobacco products by any family members. |

Self Delfence Programme |

SAFE PLUS – a self-defense skill building program organized by CHARDEP under the auspice of APAC-VHS for 34 FSWs in Kanyakumari district covered by the prevention project implemented by CHARDEP, CSR and CSD. Presided by Mr.A.Vijayakumar, PAPD, District Collectorate, the occasion was inaugurated by Mrs. Ajitha Mano Thangaraj, District Panchayat Chairperson and felicitated by Ms. Reshma Sharma of Dojo Chakra Sanmarga Foundations, Mr. Muralikrishnan of CSR, Mr.Sooryanarayanan, Assistant Health Educator and Mr.Sivarajan, AD – Panchayat felicitated the occasion. Various self-management techniques including, yoga, meditation, karate, relaxation therapy were held. |

Dr. T. S. Ramkumar (Director – CSR), Mr. Sivarajan (AD-Panchayat), Mrs. Sanghamithra Amudha, Mr. J. Benjamin Franklin (Consultant, APAC), Dr. Stella Janet (District Program Manager – DAPCU and Mr. Sankarraj (District Supervisor – TANSACS) felicitated the valediction ceremony. Dr. Madhusoothanan, Deputy Director – Public Health along with Mr. Benjamin Franklin and Mrs. Sanghamithra distributed the certificate to the participants and stressed the need for follow-up training, besides preparing the entire FSW community with self-defense skills. |
