Taking progressive steps in the development of social wellbeing our CHARDEP has done several initiatives during the month of September – 2009.
Health Service
Physically Challenged People Welfare:
A Special campaign was conducted by the District Rehabilitation Centre – Kanyakumari District for the welfare of the physically challenged people in all the 9 blocks of the district.
In this campaign more than 120nteers from our CHARDEP participated and volunteered a vital role in this campaign by registering 1412 physically challenged people for getting new Identity cards. At end of the campaign all the proposed physically challenged people have got their Identity card. District Rehabilititation Centre thanked our immense aid done by volunteers in order provide the ID cards for the physically challenged people around the district.

Micro credit programme:
Direct loan has been given to 10 SHGs through direct linkages with banks for the amount of Rs. 58, 50,000/-.
12 New SHGs were found.
NMDFC (National Minorities Development & Finance Corporation) Visit:
Mr Velayudam , Zonal officer from Chennai has visited our CHARDEP regarding to inspect the utilization of funds by the SHGs in SSL . He went to field visit and got satisfied. By this good creditivity NMDFC has allotted Rs 25,00,000 as Small Scheme Loan for the Financial year 2008- 2009.
HIV / AIDS:
Our Counselor Mrs. Sindhu has undergone Counselling training in SIAAP (South Indian AIDS Action Programme), Chennai. It is a unique training for counselors in which she has equipped with the knowledge of behaviour charge Communication Strategy, Psycho social support, group counseling, family counseling, positive prevention counseling and counseling toward suicide attitude.
Health Education:
District Level TOT Training on Anganwadi Sanitation was conducted by DRDA at Nagercoil and Marthandam headed by the District Collector Mr.Rajendra Rathnu. Focused participants are the Anganwadi workers from the whole KK district. In this training our CHARDEP trainer Mrs. Grace went as a trainee and conducted sessions on handling of safe drinking water, disposing of waste water in a proper method, disposing of human waste in a suitable way, methods of disposing organic and inorganic debris, methods of disposing animal waste, maintaining good home environment, following clean habits, creating hygienic environment at village level. The training sessions concluded in a knowledge enriched approach to the Anganwadi workers.
